Tamworth Camerata – Youth Country Music School
Tamworth Camerata is an annual Country Music course for talented young performers and musicians aged 18 years or younger. Each year Camerata offers the 21 students selected from all around Australia and New Zealand uniquely valuable opportunities to work with and learn from skilled music industry professionals, who guide them through their six-day course of tutorials, workshops, rehearsals and performances. Starting from the first Camerata in 2002, there is always a major focus on performance, songwriting and instrumental skills, stimulating students to learn and grow artistically, developing their individual talent, while gaining valuable networking with their peers and industry professionals.
At the conclusion of 2007 Camerata, there were 105 individual graduates, many now working in the Music industry, and quite a few enjoying outstanding success and stardom, anticipating industry leadership. Once Camerata commenced, the Country Music industry immediately recognised its importance, considering it to be a vital stepping-stone in the learning process for young performers serious about establishing a career in music.
Structured purposefully to complement Country Music Association Of Australia’s (CMAA) College Of Country Music for performers and musicians 18 years and over, Camerata students benefit greatly from expert instruction and mentoring in a wide variety of aspects of the industry from knowledgeable professionals. This valuable advice and tuition is made available not only to the students but also to their parents, who are given a course complementary to and supportive of their talented child or young adult.
As Tamworth Camerata is community based by way of local sponsors supporting individual students, a very real connection between these businesses and performers develops well into the future, as both parties to this find it a uniquely valuable networking situation, and real friendships develop also.
There are also several scholarships awarded Australia and New Zealand wide each year,
